Lately, I’ve been really into butter. Specifically infusing butters with herbs to give as host gifts at dinner parties. It’s actually very easy to do, but feels so decadent when slathered on fresh steamed vegetables or warm dinner rolls.
- Herbs (fresh or dried, though I prefer fresh!)
Place the butter in a bowl at room temperature, and allow to soften. If you are using fresh herbs, finely chop them down and add to the softened butter. The more herbs, the more intense the flavor. The butter can be used right away, but the flavors will intensify if refrigerated for 24 hours.
Here, I’ve made three infused butters: sage, rosemary, and thyme. But you could use any herb like basil, garlic, lemon peel, or lavender flowers.
