Spraying DIY Glass Cleaner

I’m back with another DIY, non-toxic cleaning product – glass and window cleaner! You can skip the toxic Windex by combining the potency of white vinegar and lemon.  Let’s do this.

squeezing lemon

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp white vinegar

1 cup hot water

Making glass cleaner

Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake vigorously. Spray on surface, and wipe with a cloth or newspaper.

Add a bit of corn starch to your recipe for a streak-free cleaner. What causes streaks is the bonding of hydrogen atoms. Cornstarch prevents the bond known as water pooling. The recipe I use is 2 c water, 1/4 c white vinegar, 1/4 c rubbing alcohol, 1 tbsp corn starch. Just pour it all together in a spray bottle and shake.

Do you have to mix this fresh each time you use it, or can it sit in a bottle for a while and you just shake before each use?

This worked so well! I was out of glass cleaner and had last minute guests. I may stop buying commercial glass cleaner altogether! Thank you!

I’ve seen this recipe but with a couple of drops of dishsoap…literally a few drops though, too much leaves streaks! I love being able to eliminate household cleaners that you don’t actually NEED.
